12 years ago, I met a man named Mervin. He came from a tiny island, hidden away in the Indian Ocean, 6,000 miles from the world I knew, a tropical paradise that most people put on a list of "Places to visit if I win the lottery." I never imagined that one university degree and 10 years in Paris later, I would be married to this man and living on his island.
The vast majority of tourists in Mauritius spend their entire holiday in a luxury beachfront hotel, and never experience the "real" Mauritius; the fascinating mix of cultures, traditions and languages, colourful markets, beautiful scenery and the hospitality of the locals. Of course every silver lining has a cloud, in this case, the endless struggle to obtain a residence permit, the terrifying drivers and the myriad insects and animals which all seem determined to share our house, to name but a few.
Hopefully my blog will provide an interesting, informative and sometimes humorous snapshot of my island life.
Hello There!
ReplyDeleteMy name is Stephanie Mills and I am currently a student at Indiana University. My group and I have been doing research about Mauritius and having been looking for someone who we thought would be good to interview about life within the island country. After looking over your blog we enjoy your insight and different opinions and posts about the country; as well as the fact that not only do you reside in Mauritius but are initially from a different country. We feel this and other things give you a unique perspective and were wondering if it would be at all possible to ask you a couple of (non-invasive) interview questions about yourself and the country you live in! If you are willing please feel free to contact me, I will leave my e-mail address below.
Thanks a lot,
Stephanie Mills

Hi,
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and wanted to check if you would be interested in providing a guest post for our site Retirement And Good Living (retirementandgoodliving.com) about traveling to/vacationing in Mauritius. Many of the visitors to our site are interested in traveling and a post about this island would be a good addition to the blog on our site.
Please let me know if you are interested and I will forward additional information.
Thanks,
Simone Harrison
